"Asleep at the Wheel"
The 6’7”, guitar-wielding bandleader of the
Austin-based, Texas institution called Asleep At The
Wheel, Ray Benson, states “We are a dance band.” The
nine-time Grammy Award winning band is considered in the
industry as responsible for keeping Western Swing alive
and kicking. And coming from a pair of size 16 boots,
that’s a lot of kicking! Along the way they have defied
mainstream and won praise and admiration from Willie
Nelson to Bob Dylan, from George Strait to Van Morrison.
Asleep At The Wheel has built an enduring career and as
