Keeping the NA flame burning since 1998
The group, “J. America,” is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A few
members were very excited to open the group in 1998, but soon they
left, and sometimes there were only two addicts there to keep the
room open. In the beginning, meetings were held next to a soccer
field where people were using drugs, and the smoke would drift into
our rooms, so we decided to find another place.
Today, the group is doing great with meetings on Wednesday,
Friday, and Sunday. We have about fifteen active members. It
is wonderful to see the growth of the group, its
difficulties, and how good it is now. Our Higher Power gives
us a chance to give back what was given to us for free, so
we have to make an effort to keep the NA flame burning—and,
if possible, increase the intensity of this flame so that
other addicts can have the same opportunity we had.
